When I moved to ungodly Canada little did I know that those infidels' dogs would have such a profound impact on me. I find myself cooing and oooing everytime I see one.. including the wolf which scared the hell out of me in the elevator a few minutes ago. All those who know me, fully understand and comprehend the fact that I am a CAT person...but I am now mesmerised by dogs. I want one.. please ...please .. please.. let me have one.
Is it because I don't see any cats here, thanks to the exploding £$£^$*^$ population, known to have a taste for felines, which could be keeping the cats in check in our area? Or is it because dogs can deal with the Canadian winters while cats (like me) can't? And what happens to the dog (assuming I get one) when I go on holiday? Well, can't I just switch it off or put it on hibernate mode? And on days I am sulking and don't feel like moving? Where will little Pooh do his stuff?
It sure isn't easy having a dog!
PS: This is a sarcastic post. I don't think that all those in Canada are infidels although some maybe but until I appoint myself God on Earth I will refrain from calling them infidels and beaming them to hell.

havin a cat should be 7aram!
they're so nasty!
but dogs.. i think its your
only way to heaven
Let's see if stupid blogger will accept a comment from me. I've been trying to days and it just would not let me in! Help!
As to the dog/cat thing, like you I've lived with cats all my life, and other assorted animals at times but never dogs. That changed a few years ago when my eldest fell in love with a dog that she just had to have. Daddy of course couldn't refuse her anything, so a dog we had.
Since then we added two more dogs to the family (the first died unfortunately) and we're generally happy with the brutes - as long as they don't go trampling in my flower beds, which they have done in the past - especially in summer as they dig to get to cooler ground to lie in, that, and they've got a bloody air conditioned kennel I built especially for them!
Anyway, now I have a cat problem. The bastard(s) dig my flower beds to crap in!
Needless to say that the dogs are no longer restricted to just the back of the house! ;>
yay! I got through!
Dogs are haram?? Gosh. Why would people even think like that? My little mutt is one of the most effective anti-depressants around, and makes my day each time she greets me when I come home. Don't dither. Just go for it. :)))

woohoo.. cool, a dog's family.. fablous tho.
anyways, Dogs are not allowed in a house where people needs to pray, if they think they are in ineed for to pray... otherwise God doesnt need our prayers!!
So, to Muslims, dogs are to be out of the house/unit, but can be in the fram/yard/garden, Muslims were to have them also prophets so to watch over the sheeps, so it's been an old and good pet.
While cats can be in the house, for they are cleaner... but even cats are not a good idea for the kid's lungs..etc.
Happy blogging :)
A week ago sitting in a cafe I noticed a cat adoption center across the street. I fell instantly in for two cats! I was ready to become a new mommy right then!
Never mind that I am coming to Bahrain in a few months or that when I get back to the US it will be to a whole new location. Thankfully I remembered my upcoming travel plans. I frantically tried to get my new babies a temporary home all while debating if leaving them so soon for so long would damage them emotionally....
I called my sister to see if she would consider house-sitting my future pets. A hell no and a phone slammed in my face led me to believe she was quite serious. So I ask the adoption center if they would house my cats while I was away. Again a flat no. So here I am catless and wishing I weren't... :'<
On a side note, if you're not a dog person, consider house-sitting a dog before getting one. I house sat dogs before and it ain't no picnic. I now tolerate dogs and am not scared of them (an incredible feat for a Bahraini girl) but cats are way easier!
And God created the Dog. Amen.
haha.. Did I tell you that having a dog, cat or even a hamster, isn't open for discussion in this household for the foreseeable future? My room mate doesn't want them around and this post was one of my arm twisting tactics!!
Besides, I am not that responsible yet!
How about a BABY instead SBG??????
CW,
That would be a great idea!! Never thought of it before!
Oh let me tell you about my life-long addiction to dogs@@ I have my doggie pet/friend in ba7rain but I'm now in the US for a short course and I suffer everyday of dog-deprivation :~~( I don't think it's morally right to get a dog just for a few months then give him/her up and go back! Plus I'm freezing here and taking a dog out for a walk is out of the question (thought about the balcony-poo trick but then changed my mind)-- now my condition is better though since I started dog-sitting for my friend (a.k.a the tranquilizer) @@@
Oh the 7aram issue, wellll, my conscience is happy enough with not having the dog get into my prayer room!
LuLu friend of the dogies
Great compromise Lulu!
Dogs in the Quran ?? Are'nt they dirty (Najis) ?!!!!!
I heard this from a Muslim friend. So I told him to read the Quran and find what Quran says about dogs.
It is interesting to know that dogs are mentioned in the Quran 5 times, not just once, 7:176, 18:18, 18:22 (three times). NO WHERE does God call the dogs dirty animals or give any indication that they should be avoided or treated the way many Muslims think they should. Actually the story of the people of the cave, in Sura 18, gives the indication. that we should appreciate.
The people of the cave, 3, 5 or 7 were mentioned in the Quran and every time God insists on letting us know that their dog was there with them. Their story can be as complete without the mention of the dog, but God did, Why ?
God is telling us these righteous people were in the cave with their dog, if it is not righteous to have dogs, God would not have told us that story in which the dog has to be remembered as being there. We have to know the quality of God, if we were to worship Him correctly. When God says something He means it, and when he does not, he means it as much. If God did not curse the dog and call it all kinds of name, it is because God wants us to know that He created that beautiful creature and He expected us to make all use and companinonship with that animal that accompanied these righteous people of the cave.
Fabricated hadiths contradict the Quran. Many of them narrated by Abu Hurayra. Abu Hurayra, whose name is translated as , father of the little cat, hated dogs and women and from his mouth came many hadiths that insulted women and cursed the dogs and make them undesirable animals that need to be avoided and in other hadiths killed.
These fabricted hadtihs were falsely attributed to the prophet Muhammed who cannot utter but the teachings of the Quran and would only be a living example of the Quran itself. The prophet Muhammed who lived by the Quran could not have done anything but agree with the Quran,not contradict it. God gave us a great criteria to judge His truth form the man-made fabrications;
Thanks Robin for the clarification! I really appreciate the fact you actually dug up information.
Thanks Robin! that was really a good explaination, I come from a conservative Muslim family from pakistan, grew up in US but was born in Pakistan. Got married to a really nice Muslim guy and is Modern enough to let me do my free will. I want to have a puppy so badly. Everytime i see a puppy or a dog, my heart just melts. Just needed some kinda explaination to explain my mom about it. I know she would stop coming to my place if i get a puppy.
