I just bought myself a new toy...thanks to a generous donation from my better half!
It shoots, zooms, captures and zeros in on its prey - much to my sadistic delight!
Here's an example of how great and mighty my new toy is.. but remember folks.. money can buy you all the toys you want.. but it really is down to how you use them. Here's my muse for the day!

Congratulations! Now I expect to see a lot of nice quality pictures of your environs.

The Nikon D40 is an excellent camera, I just checked its specs and they are top-notch so it should help produce what's in your mind's eye.

A fellow Ontarian has shown us so much breathtaking imagery of his adopted city, maybe you should start a Sat/Sun picture to share too?

for a second there I thought you were talking about the frog (ie, captures its prey, flies, and so on).

Never mind. I'm looking for a camera at the moment, so lets see some more shots please! :)

Thanks Mahmood and Ammar!

I have officially converted to Nikonism, I think.

The Nikon D40 is a great camera to play with .. I've had it for a couple of days and am enjoying the crisp images it captures.
I am using two lens with it though - the 55mm-200mm and the 18mm-55mm. (Our Nikon D200 has the better lens - the 18mm-200mm...but I am starting to like the Nikon D40 more).

It is very light to carry around your neck the whole day, without feeling that you are chained to something.

And the feeling of being able to capture crisp moments and not having to resort to photoshoping to touch up pix is amazing to say the least.

I will take your advice and post a few pix soon.

Excellent, looking forward to seeing more pictures.

I would disagree with you regarding the 18-200mm lens. I'm not a fan of a one-for-all, apart from the extreme ranges optical aberrations. I would rather keep the wide separate from the portrait and zoom.

Okay okay, no more photography geektalk!

More pix are certainly coming your way .. until I find myself another occupation to fill up my time :)
