Silly Bahraini Girl is a blog for all of us - women blessed with a brain which ticks and a heart that throbs. A Bahraini girl is never silly but there are some factions out there who insist that we are not given our place in the society. To those, I say, HARD LUCK!

SBG, it is just a silly thing spreading like a virus

Do you truly want to know just how deep the rabbit hole goes? Alice doesn't live here anymore.
The scary question is.. will our turn come and when...
i really dread that moment aalman.. dont wanna even go there!
Two words SBG: Global Warming
These sick bastards. A friend of mine's cousin was hit in the face by shrapnel from the No 30 bus in Tavistock Square two weeks back. She was in fact lucky: she was one of those who couldn't get on the bus before it exploded.
The question is will democracy in the Middle East make things worse or better?
sorry for your cousin's friend...but your question should be paraphrased: Is there any democracy in the Middle East?
Do totalitarian regimes breed terrorists?
Dont know.. I could continue until morning..
too bad.. i have to wake up tomorrow and continue to serve wonderland!
"Do totalitarian regimes breed terrorists?"
Maybe it's yet another conspiracy-like deal to give America's bad boys a better reason to bomb another country whose name they can't pronounce.
Let's see how the media goes about this, and how much of our blood it'll cost.
es, again with the conspiracy? We have people blowing themselves up, what is so difficult to see? If you follow the trend, it started in New york, then London, then Sharm Alshaikh... I dont dare guess where the next stop will be....
the direction they're heading (from iraq and egypt) is unthinkable at this rate.
If, god forbid, something happenes close to our home and loved ones; I will be very interested to hear the conspiracy theory behind it.
The Joker, again with taking everything at face value?
If you want these terrorists to stop, then you can't just sit here and curse at them, which is what you've been doing. You need to at least make an attempt at knowing where these people are coming from, and what exactly is their intention.
If you're going to spew out the usual and tell me it's because of Islam - Then it won't be long before I start snoring. Like I said and keep saying, just because they chant religious texts doesn't mean that it's the actual message.
"If, god forbid, something happenes close to our home and loved ones; I will be very interested to hear the conspiracy theory behind it."
Great, so if anything does happen, I'll invite you over for coffee and we can look over the so-called "facts" and then I'll say something completely irrelevant and biased just to make you feel like you have the upper hand in the argument.
But, seriously, when something does happen - It won't be long before someone's going to have to connect the dots. Sit here and bash pseudo-Islamic terrorism until our time has come, but it's about as useful as what you accuse me of doing.
I personally think there's a tie with other countries/organizations who want Islam and the nations that follow it to be portrayed in the worst way possible. No one knows the facts. Your accusations could be just as false and illogical as mine. A lot of the things that we're exposed to are just other people's opinions rather than solid and spot on satements.
People kept cursing at the terrorists that caused 9/11. I remember talking about the things that it's going to cause while everyone rolled their eyes and kept talking about how awful this is. Yet, that very same day, twice as many Afghanis have been killed, and the media coverage? I don't even remember knowing about this after CNN spent about a month going on and on about the 9/11 details. I found out through Arabic news networks.
When CNN and FoxNews felt too ashamed not to broadcast this, they gave incorrect statistics, and then made it seem like the bomb in Afghanistan was an "accident." So, it's an accident that they bombed an entire village where thousands reside and it was an "accident" that they got ahold of some of its opium. Come on, I need to quit it with this conspiracy shit, right? It totally wasn't a conspiracy against the Muslim world but rather, "revenge." Because 1 American life equals 500 Muslims.
And killing hundreds of thousands of defenseless Iraqis isn't half as bad as a heartless and fearless twit killing at least a thousand Americans.
If you don't believe me that there has been a huge difference in Afghanistan after 9/11, then feel free to ask any Afghani. Iraq isn't the only country suffering.
A week after the London blasts, 3000 people were killed or injured in Pakistan. The media coverage? A 2-minute news report and 2 vague pictures, and then it's back to London again. It killed more people, shouldn't it be more important? I guess not. People can be disgustingly apathetic when it comes to things that isn't caused by nonsensical 'terrorism.'
Call me boring and idiotic for having such a mentality - But don't expect me to sit here and be spoon-fed a huge bowl of bullshit when the deaths of a few will eventually cause mass genocides in this very region.
When it's our time - I will at least keep in mind who's gaining from this, and I will congratulate them because they managed to fool even our people with their clever wankings in the media.
es you kept on weeping over afghanistan.. did you know that after the war, 2 MILLION afghanis were able to get back to their country.. 2 MILLION !! they had to leave their country and immigrate to pakistan and Iran.. all my respect to these countries, but how bad could it be to decide to immigrate to Iran and pakistan?
Another thing I don't understand. There is an atrocity.. how can we, in a split second, disregard what just happened and start pointing at fantasy, smoke-and-mirror conspiracies to topple our religion; as if suiciders are an everyday thing we should get used to by now?
I have a cousin in saudi arabia. She used to have similar ideas... well she got extremely religious, and was in favor of bin ladin or whatever.... until one day the driver was driving her back from college... and above the bridge, I don't know if you remember this when a bunch of terrorists kidnapped an englishman, tied him to the back of the car, and drove across town in khobar. She was stopping under the tunnel when they were driving over causeway... the corpse flew right in front of their wind shield like a pendulum... his face was rubbed off because of the friction.... What she saw was unspeakable...she was in a frenzy... poor girl couldnt act normal for a week
You think she changed her ideas about bin ladin? You bet
I honestly hope you dont get an experience like that up close to change your mind....
Im not saying Islam is responsible... but there are a couple of factors that are... like assuming that everyone is after islam and we have to fight back..
Have a nice night
"did you know that after the war, 2 MILLION afghanis were able to get back to their country.. 2 MILLION !!"
Your sources?
"I honestly hope you dont get an experience like that up close to change your mind...."
Sorry, but that story was irrelevent. I never said that I'm in favour of Bin Ladin's actions nor do I need to experience such a thing to change my mind.
Things are nowhere close to being better than they have been. If you're going to congratulate America for killing that many people while claiming that they were after 'one' man, then go ahead, but the more you try to convince me otherwise, the more I know you're brimming with shit.
"In fact there is so much bullshit in you post it is almost comical in nature"
I'm laughing so much my stomach is screaming obsenities at me. Please save me with your obvious intelligence and sharp wit instead of nibblings on shwarmas all day long.
"Pull your head out of your a$$ and stop blaming the Great Satan for you ills."
Right now, I blame nothing but your ignorance for my ills.
"Stop your bullshit spoon-fed propaganda about hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's being killed post 9-11. It isn't true and you know it."
Ask yourself, what is America actually trying to do? Protect themselves? Spread democracy? Fight terrorism? I find it really hard to believe they advance any of those goals by 'punking' Iraqis with fake menstrual blood.
AND it makes me think that when you pile 'em up naked and make them blow each other that maybe, just maybe, it has nothing to do with 'a few bad apples' and has maybe a little more to do with a morally bankrupt attitude toward innocent prisoners. Now I might be more inclined towards moral bankruptcy if I thought this kind of crap was even marginally effective, but there's no evidence at all as it is.
And stop calling me "little girl", it makes you sound like Jack Nicholson playing a paedophile for some lifetime movie.
"Im not saying Islam is responsible... but there are a couple of factors that are... like assuming that everyone is after islam and we have to fight back.."
I wasn't suggesting that we had to fight back, but I think we can perhaps protect this religion by educating the average guillable git against the fallacious accusations that it faces everyday. These blasts are doing nothing but ruining our reputation worldwide, and putting our lives at great risk. Why? Because people think that we approve of this merely because of our 'Muslim' status.
I really don't want to indulge myself in the middle of your discussion. I am just a watcher to this one.
As for the source ES asked for, I bothered myself enough to google and get a source:
http://www.careusa.org/newsroom/specialreports/victimsofwar/facts.asp
Keep it up!
"These blasts are doing nothing but ruining our reputation worldwide, and putting our lives at great risk."
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
I can do without the contradictions, like this one "I wasn't suggesting that we had to fight back, but I think we can perhaps protect this religion"
Wake up...its in your head.. no one is after islam
I think we're hijacking SBG's post. I'll have a post on my blog soon so we don't sidetrack SBG's.
"THANK YOU VERY MUCH!"
You're welcome, numbskull.
As for moodymoodz, I bothered myself enough to look for these:
- More than 12,000 bombs were dropped over Afghanistan in 4,700 sorties between Oct 7 and Dec 10, and between 1,000 and 1,300 civilians were killed.
- USA bombing killed civilians at a rate four times higher than the NATO bombardment of Kosovo and Serbia three years ago.
- 3,000 troops to Afghanistan & Bosnia (to fight non-existent enemy). National Post, Jun 28, 2003
- USA uses new 'thermobaric' bomb in Afghanistan (causes extensive damage far beyond strike area). Yahoo! AFP, Mar 3, 2002
- Afghanistan civilian toll notably high (500-lb 'dumb bombs' & 15,000-lb 'daisy cutters' blamed). Globe and Mail, Jan 19, 2002. Go to 13.Weapons
- Afghans claim village flattened by US air raid (200 innocents killed in firestorm on mud huts) National Post, Oct 15, 2001
- http://www.commondreams.org/headlines05/0222-08.htm
Keep sitting here and telling me America's decisions to bomb both Afghanistan and Iraq is for the sake of its civilians. I haven't laughed in years and since Seinfeld is off the air I thought this might just what I've been looking for.
"Keep it up!"
I'm trying, you're just too quick for me!
http://www.careusa.org/about/et.asp
Care USA. How reliable. This is the equivalent of Al Ayam. Do you think they, as 'proud Americans' which is what the executive board consists of, are going to sit here and give you the other side of the story? 2 million people came back, no one may deny that, but according to Mohsen Makhmalbaf, a controversial Irani film maker who actually went to Afghanistan to interview Afghanis and I believe some Kurds, 2.5 million have been either dead or homeless since the war. They came back because the Taliban was gone, NOT because America made it safe enough for them to. They didn't have the sources to find out that they'll be going for something much worse - American troops awaiting them with machine guns and tanks.
Are you saying this competes with things like The Washington Post, Reuters, BBC, and The Daily Telegraph, who ALL admitted the atocities this caused both Iraq and Afghanistan?
Numbskull?
We may have our differences, but do I need to call you names to prove a point?
es:
"Your sources?"
-es 11:32 PM
"2 million people came back, no one may deny that"
-es 2:13 PM
You asked for sources! I did give you a source!! And then you say NO ONE DENIES IT??!
and then you go on "They came back because the Taliban was gone, NOT because America made it safe enough for them to"
So america didn't make it safer, but instead just removed the ONLY cause that made them flee the country in the first place?! I am not pro america, but the least we should do is give them credit for the reforms they caused in our world today.
Those are additional and hopefully creditable sources:

es, you're right when you say: 'You need to at least make an attempt at knowing where these [terrorists] are coming from, and what exactly is their intention.'
The terrorists' worldview is fed by the politics of conspiracy and moral equivalence - exactly what you're engaging in on this blog.
I don't like many aspects of US foreign policy, and I particularly dislike their president, but to suggest that America's on the same moral level as the jihadis is absurd. Look back at your list of civilian dead in Pakistan, Iraq and elsewhere - the vast majority have been targetted and killed by the extremists, not the Americans. The US for all its failures doesn't have a policy of going out to kill as many civilians as possible - the jihadis do.
If the US is engaged in 'a war against Islam' as you claim, it could win it in the few minutes it'd take to launch its arsenal of neutron weapons. So come on give us the conspiracy theory to explain why they don't.
In fact America's had a tendency to go out of its way to support Muslim countries - such as its backing for Turkey in its various aggressions against Greece, Cyprus and Armenia. Or the backing for the neocons' favourite Islamist, Alia Izetbegovic, in Bosnia in the vast ethnic cleansing involved in Operation Storm in 1995.
The politics of resentment may be satisfying, but avoiding reality doesn't just feed self delusion but the nightmare ideology of the terrorists too.
"You asked for sources! I did give you a source!! And then you say NO ONE DENIES IT??!"
I said if 2 million people DID, in fact, come back, then you need to know WHY they came back. And, you said that the Taliban is the ONLY reason they fled the country in the first place, which is rediculous to assume. People have been fledding the country since the early 90's, when the Taliban didn't exist.
I guess Afghanistan wasn't engaged in war way before the Taliban came to power.
I guess Afghanistan didn't suffer, and aren't suffering, from homelessness, poverty, and sexism before the Taliban came to power.
The number of people who are now homeless and displaced probably doubled after the U.S bombed the shit out of their villages, in places where there wasn't even any trace of the Taliban. If the Taliban were gone in 2001, then please tell me, why were there shitloads of bombs in 2003 as well? Why are there still troops in Afghanistan? To protect? To help? To provide?
Am I glad that the Taliban are gone? Yes. Anyone would be, considering the mess that they've caused. But the U.S didn't, and currently aren't, cleaning, any of the mess. People heard that the Taliban are gone, so they came back.
Do you realize how corrupt their illegitimate state is?
"I am not pro america, but the least we should do is give them credit for the reforms they caused in our world today."
Thank God for America. It's fine if something happened to Bahrain, because America will be the first to do its moral duty!
"If the US is engaged in 'a war against Islam' "
Did I say that? No. I say the way we are PORTRAYED isn't right. This was is on terrorism, and terrorism only, but what is terrorism linked to? Islam, so what do people want to attack along with terrorism? Islam. For most people, terrorism wouldn't exist without the false raving lunatic God that keeps telling us to bomb and kill.
The war on terrorism is just an excuse to be engaged in endless war. If you think that America isn't gaining anything from this, that's fine, your politics are your own business, but to come here and smother your claims in other people's faces by repeatedly saying that 'America did this! America did that!' without even considering the brutal side-effects that come with their guns and tanks, then you're the one being unrealistic here.
"So come on give us the conspiracy theory to explain why they don't."
What? Are you saying that America could put Islam to an end in a mere heartbeat? You do realize that Islam is the fastest growing religion in America, if not the world, right? Because even Hillary Clinton admitted that much, and you do know that one in every 30 British people is a Muslim, right?
If this war is between Islam vs. All (like you blindly accused me of suggesting), then it'll NEVER end.
"In fact America's had a tendency to go out of its way to support Muslim countries"
Ha. Haha. Iran, Bosnia, Indonesia, Algeria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, and Nigeria all believe you.
"but avoiding reality doesn't just feed self delusion but the nightmare ideology of the terrorists too."
You can believe whatever helps you sleep at night, but America isn't serving your interests, or rights, for that matter. Believe it if you must, your opinion on America is your own business. But God bless them, indeed, for allowing their nation to sleep safe and sound, and stopping the "brown people" from doing exactly the same thing.
Oh, and just so you know, USA Today is meant to portray America in the brightest light possible.
Find me an international source with American journalists if you must, not a URL that screams "America! Aww yeah, we're the big boys!"
"international source with American journalists if you must"
I took the time to actually google you the sources, and international they were (UK, Canada, Belgium, AND the US). Maybe you really should take another glance through that pea size hole you look into this world from and realize that not every bloody website in cyberspace is engaging in some universal conspiracy theory anticipating to brainwash your simple mind. I seriously can’t be bothered to get you more sources.
As for WHY those refugees have left, please do take the time to go through the following:
http://www.merip.org/mero/mero092401.html
YES, the country was going through 23 years of living hell. The taliban came and made it WORSE.
"to brainwash your simple mind"
That's pretty rich coming from a guy who resorted to namecalling towards incoming immigrants.
"Maybe you really should take another glance through that pea size hole you look into this world from and realize that not every bloody website in cyberspace is engaging in some universal conspiracy theory anticipating to brainwash your simple mind. I seriously can’t be bothered to get you more sources."
And maybe you should take off those hideous sunglasses and look into the real consequences that take place everytime big bad America decides to step in.
"I seriously can’t be bothered to get you more sources"
That's because there aren't any reliable international sources that support your argument. Things like Newsweek, The Washington Post, Daily Telegraph, Reuters, already reveal what you're too scared to.
"The taliban came and made it WORSE."
Wow. Thanks for telling us something none of us knew. The fact is, America aren't making the situation any BETTER.
"From a humanitarian perspective, the recent terrorist attacks and subsequent US threat of military action against Afghanistan could not have come at a worse moment."
Thank you. This is from your own source.
"As the threat of US military action against Afghanistan becomes more acute, a new refugee exodus from Afghanistan could accelerate the descent of the regional refugee situation into humanitarian disaster."
I didn't read anything that goes against my argument, there. Maybe you should read your source before claiming the fact that you're always spot on, genius.
"As suggested by UNHCR chief Ruud Lubbers, the US and the rest of the international community should at least devote the same efforts to building a "humanitarian coalition" as they have to building a military one. UNHCR has issued an appeal to international donors for an additional $6 million. Meanwhile, internally displaced Afghans will likely face even greater risk than those who attempt to cross borders"
Oh look. More.
"such as its backing for Turkey in its various aggressions against Greece, Cyprus and Armenia."
Scorpio, I just spent the past 20 minutes researching this, and apparently, what you're saying is that America supported Turkey in its brutal genocide against Amernia.
Good to know.
"Beside, don’t you talk to me about respect and name calling you reverent twit."
If this came from a person whom I actually respected that would cut deeply, but being called a "twit" by a person who I consider painfully boring and obnoxious amounts to nothing but a mosquito bite. It's annoying, and it might draw a little blood, but ultimately, you end up as little more than something that I bitch slap, look at with disgust, and wash off my hands.
"hmm.. America stepped in to liberate Afghanistan from the late USSR, America stepped in to liberate the people of Afghanistan from the Taliban regime, America stepped in to liberate the people of Baghdad from that sick fucker."
Are all of these countries better off now than they have been?
No.
Does the source you gave me agree with that?
Yes.
"what did the great arab nation did? NOTHING! Bloody nothing!! But now we can blame it on uncle sam!!"
I already said somewhere that bad leadership is our problem - Just like Ayman Noor said in this week's Newsweek International, "I think the United States is doing a good job spreading democracy [which I don't necessarily agree with] but I also believe hundreds of millions of Arabs have suffered from oppression of dictatorships that were actually supported and are still being supported by the U.S. administration."
"As I said earlier, sources I have enough of. "
Whatever you say, Mr. 'USA Today'.
ES, you did 20 minutes research? Maybe you should do some more.
I wasn't thinking of WWI directly, but while we're on the subject how about you doing some more research on how the US Congress has consistently blocked moves to recognise Turkey's genocide against the Armenians in the First World War.
And while you're about it look up how the Americans backed Turkey's support for Azeri Turks against Armenia in the bloodshed in the early 90s.
And let's not get started on who the US the religion affiliations of those the US has supported and opposed in Cyprus, Kosovo and Bosnia.
Looking a bit baseless isn't it this paranoia that the US is involved in a crusade against Muslims?
"Looking a bit baseless isn't it this paranoia that the US is involved in a crusade against Muslims?"
Sorry to hear about your reading comprehension problem. I already said that this wasn't my point.
I'm thinking of opening a betting book on whether Syria or Iran will be next to suffer in the hands of America. Meanwhile, the theocratic kleptocracy that pumps out terrorists by the dozen - Saudi Arabia - is fellated by the West for being a "friend." It's a mad, mad world indeed.
Violence begets violence. It's that easy. Until both terrorists and the U.S government realize that this cycle will continue, innocent people from all sides will be killed in the name of peace. The irony.
"Why had the nations of the world, and particularly the United States, which they thought of as both powerful and just, not prevented the killing of millions of innocent people? Where was American power and moral commitment when a million Armenians were being slaughtered in Turkey in 1915, six million Ukrainians starved to death by Stalin in 1932-33, two million Bengalis murdered by Pakistan in 1971? What was America doing when still more millions were killed in Cambodia, Bosnia, and Rwanda, not because of what they had done, but because of who they were? And, of course, there was the much-discussed question of whether more could have been done to prevent the Holocaust.
My students also wanted to know why it had taken the United States 40 years to ratify the Genocide Convention, which the United Nations endorsed unanimously in 1948, with strong U.S. support. The convention defined genocide and declared it a crime against international law. Why, as soon as the United States finally did ratify the convention, in 1988, did it support Saddam Hussein's regime despite evidence that the dictator had committed genocide against the Kurds in Iraq in 1987-88?
Today we continue to hear about genocide. As before, however, few Americans pay much attention. What is happening in Sudan? In Congo? With indigenous peoples in many other regions? Can you tell me? My students' questions -- and my own -- are increasingly important to all of us, both morally and politically."
- Roger W. Smith is a professor emeritus of government at the College of William & Mary and a former president of the Association of Genocide Scholars.
Let's see you try to answer the above questions.
By the way - Clinton recently apologized publicly for not taking the Rwandan genocide seriously, and doing nothing about it. He said it's a "personal failture." So don't even try to show how America is all about the candy and rainbows - They did nothing against one of the most hideous crimes against humanity.
When America decides to take military action instead of taking the cheaper and more successful route, which is sending aid, it ends up costing thousands of lives. Afghanistan and Iraq have much smaller populations than the US. Adjust the casualties in Iraq to the US population, and it'd be over half a million Americans were killed. Oh what a padded glove, eh?
I wanted the discussion to continue with some mutual respect. But being the intolerant, narrow-minded, unrespectable, unworthy, dolt that you are; arguments with bigot scumbags like you always do end up this way. و صدق أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام حين قال ((ناقشت عالمهم فغلبته وناقشت جاهلهم فغلبني)). Yet again, whatever suits you miss conspiracy theory.
“Are all of these countries better off now than they have been?
No.”
Will all these countries would have been better off without the intervention of the US forces?
HELL NO.
“I already said somewhere that bad leadership is our problem”
Personally (and you might disagree with me) I don’t see bad leadership as “the” problem, but instead a consequent, our problem lies in the nation, in the people. Who fail to form proper opposition movement, fail to take their issues to international ears. Heck, they fail to even protest properly.
so the battles of wits continues here ... emmmm
Scorpio, I just spent the past 20 minutes researching this, and apparently, what you're saying is that America supported Turkey in its brutal genocide against Amernia.
WRONG; At the time of the Armeanian genocide America was at war with Ottoman turkey.
WW1 ENGLAND, USA, FRANCE, ITALY on one side, GERMANY, AUSTRIA, TURKEY on the other side
My Armeaian step father came to America to escape being murdered by the turks.
"WRONG; At the time of the Armeanian genocide America was at war with Ottoman turkey.
WW1 ENGLAND, USA, FRANCE, ITALY on one side, GERMANY, AUSTRIA, TURKEY on the other side"
-
"Turkey began to spend large amounts of money on lobbying firms in Washington D.C. to counter genocide allegations, and improve its image. It also began to spend large amounts of money on endowed chairs of Turkish or Ottoman history in different U.S. universities which had conditions that the professors who were hired must be on "friendly" terms with Turkey"
This is from wikipedia.
The U.S denied that what happened in Rwanda was a genocide, and it's not until recently that they recognized the current events in Sudan as "genocide."
