This appeared in yesterday's GDN.. I will leave it here for the record. It is way too hilarious to ignore:

"Hotel robbers held in swift action
By VINITHA VISWANATH
MANAMA: Two Bahrainis suspected of snatching BD5,000 in cash and cheques worth BD3,000 in a car ambush yesterday, were arrested within three hours of the robbery.
The robbers used swords to attack the Novotel Al Dana Resort driver and his companion off Layali Zaman Cafe on a slip road near Marina Club, as they were on their way to deposit the money at a bank branch, said Criminal Investigation Directorate Acting Director Brigadier Farook Salman Al Maawada.
Bahrainis Yousif Mahmood Ali, 47, and Waleed Mohammed Abdulla, 34, suffered minor injuries in the attack, which happened at about 11.30am, and were treated at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC).
Raiders reportedly forced them to stop their car, by swerving to a halt in front of them.
They punctured a tyre on the victims' car, smashed its windows, attacked them and then fled with the cash.
Sources said the suspects, in a panic to escape, banged the stolen car against a wall in a lane in Sanad.
The events after the crash unfolded quickly when two men, taken to SMC for treatment, said they suffered burns in a blaze which engulfed their Toyota Camry.
They both admitted the robbery as police pressed them to reveal how the car blaze started.
Witnesses later recognised one of the two suspects who will appear before the General Prosecutor on their release from the hospital.
Police have also recovered the stolen money.
Brigadier Al Maawada urged companies to take necessary measures when transporting money and valuables."

Oops. Bahrain should read Wonderland in copy from now onwards.

Don't want the authorities knocking on my door and making fools out of themselves anytime soon ;)

I got this e-mail from Mark:

Try this one on for size!!

The following mind-boggling attempt at a crime spree in Washington
appeared to be the robber's first (and last), due to his lack of a
previous record of violence, and his terminally stupid choices:

1. His target was H&J Leather & Firearms, A gun shop specializing in
handguns.
2. The shop was full of customers - firearms customers.
3. To enter the shop, the robber had to step around a marked police
patrol car parked at the front door.
4. A uniformed officer was standing at the counter, having coffee before

work. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up,
and fired a few wild shots from a .22 target pistol.
The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, the police officer with
a 9mm Glock 17, the clerk with a .50 Desert Eagle, assisted by several
customers who also drew their guns, several of whom
also fired, The robber was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics.

Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the
shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics
identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was
hurt in the exchange of fire.

Here we are at the beginning of April and we already may have the 2005
winner of the Darwin Award. This guy is going to be hard to beat.

hehehe
