Merry Xmas everybody, those who celebrate the occasion and those who don't.

Despite it being a highly commercialised event, which stores and businesses heavily bank on, it is a special occasion for many, who get together as a family and exchange greetings and gifts the same way we do over Eid. Yes, there are always people we want to avoid, people we don't have the stomach to sit across for a meal and traditions which get boring when you repeat them in the same sequence year after year after year.

What annoyed me this year, like in every year, is when some really sad people start saying that we shouldn't exchange greetings with those who celebrate Xmas because we shouldn't do what the infidels do. I am appauled by such backwardness, which surely is against the spirit of Islam, the way I know and practise it. Why is it Ok for the infidels to wish us Eid Mubarak and not OK for us to wish them Merry Xmas ?

Until when will this backwardness and lack of tolerance and understanding continue and why do people who pretend to be educated and open-minded sending such horrid signals across ?

For as long as there are fanatics, peace on Earth is a far fetched dream.

Merry Xmas everyone..
