There must be loads of poor people in Bahrain for this to happen:
MANAMA, JAN. 30 (BNA) NOBEL WINNER PROFESSOR MOHAMMED YUNIS AND FOUNDER OF POOR BANK WILL ARRIVE IN BAHRAIN ON THE 3RD OF FEBRUARY.
BAHRAINI DAILY QUOTED OFFICIAL SOURCES AT POOR BANK IN BANGLADESH AS SAYING PROFESSOR YOUNIS DURING HIS THREE - DAY VISIT WILL SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TO ESTABLISH POOR BANK IN BAHRAIN.
PROFESSOR YOUNIS IS ALSO EXPECTED TO MEET HM KING HAMAD BIN ISA AL KHALIFA, PRIME MINISTER SHAIKH KHALIFA BIN SALMAN AL KHALIFA AND CROWN PRINCE AND BDF COMMANDER - IN - CHIEF SHAIKH SALMAN BIN HAMAD AL KHALIFA.
Whatever is the case, I am excited about the project. I just hope the bank manager who will be handpicked from a handful of close associates to oversee the project would live up to the spirit of the job and its aim: to eradicate poverty in a country divided by an obvious sectarian rift!

This is great news! I will only believe it of course when it happens, but still, just the idea of doing this in Bahrain is an improvement :)
haha.. I like the way you think... you will only believe it when it happens. I think it will happen since they have gone through the trouble of bringing the man to bahrain to discuss it with him.. what concerns me is how is its implementation .. and whether all the factors which decide who is eligible for what is Bahrain will be factored into this project too.
It is scary to think of Bahrain in those terms and I am ashamed that I am stooping to this level of thinking too.. but as much as the truth hurts, it has to be acknowledged .. for the healing process to start!
