I know. If I don't blow my own trumpet, who will? Although it coincides with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and could have been tasteless being so far away from home, I was overwhelmed with the wishes from every corner of the globe.

Keeping with the spirit of my online work, my family assembled in front of the webcam and sang Happy Birthday to me. It was bittersweet ... but what are they supposed to do? Get on their camels and come trotting across the globe?

And thanks to the amazing friends from around the world, this year's celebration was special.

All the way from Fiji, John Liebhardt sang:

Happy birthday to our fearless leader
Who tightens our copy and brightens our day
She links to all those strange posts
And makes this work seem like kids' play

Oh Amira, happy birthday our fearless leader
With your wisdom, you've made VwV a lot of fun
I'll let you in on a little secret:
we won't know what to do with our lives
When this election is done.

Happy Birthday, Amira
Little does John know that the work he and his colleagues do keep me going and give me something to look forward to everyday! Thank you all! How I wish everyday was my birthday.

Off I go ... need to get ready for my birthday dinner :)
