Today's is World Press Freedom Day, another meaningless tasteless day in our part of the world.

It is a black day, a real real dark day for people with any decency as journalism in my country - the country I dare not mention on the www in fear of being fed to the wolves - is far from being free.

It is a shame that I have to anonymously blog this like a coward because I dare not put my name to it in fear of repurcussions.

It is a shame that the freedom of Press is bought and sold on the open market and standards and ethics change everyday, depending on personal whims.

It is heart breaking that our Press is not the voice of the voiceless but the glamour galore of the high and mighty.

It is sad that newspapers have no power, no cause and no respect in our societies.

It is a shame I cannot say more for I am censored, censored and censored!

it is "deep expressions of thought" oozing with frustration at an archaic system

it is the revolution of youth

it is an eager longing to a cockroach-infested cell, where we forget day from night, traffic jams and Saudi drivers curring through traffic at the speed of light!

why doesn't some one just think it out loud? Like: " Freedom of Speech my A** ".

It's because we are well behaved, Strav.
What will mummy think when she discovers that I not only have a BLOG but use such profanity on the www?

What would the MoI think?

Angelo Embuldeniya (Strav) said...

U know that they're all taking advantage of our 'good behavior', courtesy and tolerance ;)

And speaking about the MoI, a poll posted on another bahrain-based site revealed one of the forum members who claimed that 'bloggers were the target of the web site registration campaign'.

It's all quite interesting :-D

Thanks Strav for leading me to different sites on a day the Internet is so slow and giving up on life ..

Interesting to see that some unwitting souls think it's OK to register.

Of course, it is not OK.

Dear Ministry of Information,
I have the right to Blog.
You don't have the right to stop me.
Best regards,
Silly Me

lol, profainity? I remember a certain someones initial post speaking of bad boys who like to stare.

They're still insisting on this? Did the word "freedom" change definition while I was away?

SillyBahrainiGirl said...

Sume,
I am being silly...I was just teasing Strav.

Of course, I will continue to swear for as long as I have the ability to speak!

So help me God!

Now as I browse the comments posted on blogs around the Arabian gulf, I find the same sick n tired , time for a change , we are fed up attitude and let alone the wittyness that've grown rapidaly amongst the disgruntled youths.

Mummy also taught me that if I didn't have anything worth saying to shut up!

Angelo Embuldeniya (Strav) said...

LOL, that was hilarious :D

BTW - is there any press law in bahrain that does not allow one, to use images or photos to descibe an event, honest reporting except it's through images (u still get to keep freedom of speech flowing thru that). Just an idea however, that maybe the daily newspapers here in Bahrain might want to consider that, maybe a weekly page as a starter to describe an event in bahrain (dilbert - kinda thing).

After all a pic is worth a thousand words :-)
